The air conditioner didn't work, just blew out hot air and it was at least 90F and humid out. Staff was not very friendly at first and not very helpful. Even the people at the uhaul call center even struggle. Overall, I'm very disappointed in the service I received from Uhaul (except for the customer service I received when I actually picked up the van- the clerk helping me was great.) However, I requested to pick it up downtown Ottawa, I wanted a 15ft truck and needed it for 24 hours. I understand that the August long weekend is quite busy, but I had my reservation changed on me 4 times, getting more and more inconvenient with each change. Every time I called Uhaul to speak to someone, they were extremely unhelpful- everything from "not being able to see my original confirmation" to just being unwilling to do anything for me. I never requested any changes, they kept happening without my consent and I never received any information as to why. Luckily the rental ended up being fairly inexpensive- that was the only really positive experience I had. I would not recommend Uhaul in the future and would not use Uhaul again myself. I'd rather pay more money to receive better service.

Great and friendly people my next move will be with this location I called on July 5, the day after I returned the trailer when i noticed I was overcharged by one day. I explained to Nick that this was as per an arrangement with the District Asst Mgr Paul. He acknowledged that the note was in the file and that he would credit my credit card immediately. Today is July 20 and I am still waiting for the refund. U-Haul as a company is great! I will use U haul everytime I move or recommend a a moving company to friends. I however will not recommend this location (Leitrim home hardware 4836) again. All was well until I dropped off the truck after refilling it $56 @ $0.99 a litre. I refilled the truck about a 1/4 tank returning the gas to the original 5/8 of a tank I first got the it with. The following day to my shock I was over charged $130. I called and asked the sales associates at the same location I rented the truck at why I was charged so much. The sales rep at The Home Hardware claimed I returned the truck with only 1/4 tank!

Having aparently using 1/2 a tank of gas. This isn't even impossible if I didn't put any gas on the truck let alone spending $56 refilling it. The guy was semi rude and told me to contact U Haul derectly. I called U- Haul and the customer representative was very polite and understanding. I was impressed by how quickly and easily I was able to get a refund for the wrongly charged refilling fee. It's very clear to me that the U Haul location (Home Hareware 4836 bank st) was incompetent and caused me undue stress over their mistake. U-Haul as a company however is very professional and value their customers. Very friendly on pick-up and return. I would definitely use this location for another rental. Gas consumption calculations needs to be better explained. Because of this I will try and avoid U-Haul in the future. I do not like surprises. We were supposed to pick up the truck at Cheney location, 5 min. from our home and just a few hours before, they told us that we have to make a 40 min. drive from our house to pick up.
