I thought I would give it a try. Like so many others I had the same issues with this A/C. It was released in 2010 and I believe it was a bad engineering concept till it was improved upon. On the temperature issue it would kick on then off the temperature would rise then it would cool down. I recently received my first electric bill and these energy efficient ACs have cut my bill in half over the central unit at my old house.

Read all the reviews and was encouraged by the previous reviews and the fact that we have a 5,000 btu Frigidaire in the other bedroom that works fine and is as quiet as any a/c I've seen. Installed it and was immediately thrown off that my 5/6 year old sharp had the exact same remote and brackets as this brand new unit. Within the first hour, we were pleased to see the temperature of the room drop from 90 to 81...that's where the honeymoon ended. That night however, we were unable to sleep b/c for some reason the unit made a rattling sound (quiet similar to the older unit that we had to replace). I woke up and attempted to adjust its positioning in the window, but no luck. I'm waiting for my first free moment to a) find a better unit and purchase it and 2) remove this junker and return it to Walmart. I just hope we can find some way to get some rest and endure the heat (b/c our room is just barely tolerable over the last couple of days).
