You can ride all day on gorgeous country roads. We are also near the Bear Creek Greenway. Dutch Bros coffee and a neighborhood convenience store are catty-cross our street. You can drive anywhere in Medford in 20 minutes or less from Middleford Cottage and downtown is fewer than five minutes away.We are three miles from Jacksonville, a quaint town listed on the National Historic Registry. Dine at Jacksonville Inn, Bella Union, Las Palmas or Deja Vu Bistro. Their patios are particularly lovely in warmer weather. The city of Ashland is also nearby (13 miles), with artisan shops, Lithia Park (must see), and Tony award-winning theater. Medford boasts a variety of golf courses, with a local favorite public course within walking/touring distance from Middleford Cottage.

Medford is very easy to drive around and we are less than five minutes from I-5 exit #27.Perhaps best of all, we are surrounded by wilderness paradise, with rivers, lakes, and hiking/biking/cross-country-ski trails too numerous to list here. For a day trip to the beach, Brookings is a 2 1/2 hour drive, partially through exquisite redwood forests.Crater Lake is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Please see it if at all possible. We recommend the boat tour.We recommend a car or bicycle for getting around Medford.We are located east of Interstate 5, exit 27.Middleford Cottage is suitable for chicken-friendly guests. We have hens, no roosters, so you will not be disturbed by crowing. Hens cluck softly most of the time but they do squawk when threatened or excited. Occasionally they make proud announcements after they lay an egg. Regarding one-night visits, we are happy to accept one-night visits within one-week of requested date. We have found it problematic with our schedules to accept one-night reservations more than one week in advance.
